I have been writing and performing comedy for some years now, and in 2011 decided to try and turn this approach onto science.  Fortunately there exists a like-minded group for introducing the academic into stand-up – http://www.brightclub.org/.  If you go to the Cambridge section, on the ‘Dangerous Animals’ podcast you can hear a recording of me (right at the end) talking about David Attenborough worship,  doing an impression of Brian Cox, and explaining neutrinos via the medium of Usain Bolt, plus an interview where I pretend to have actually thought about all these issues.  Or if you prefer your comedy with visuals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQUeE9meCfs.

ScienceShowoff – another sciencey performance group I’ve been involved with. http://www.scienceshowoff.org/

Science of Fiction – A radio recording for the CamFM radio show ‘Science of Fiction’ I did with Andrew Holding. Great fun to do, partly due my intense level of caffeination at the time.

Triple Helix Cambridge – a science outreach group, publishers of the Science in Society Review journal and organisers of some cracking debates, speeches, and conferences http://camtriplehelix.com / https://twitter.com/camtriplehelix.  During my stint with them I wrote articles here and here, and helped organize this, this, and this.

Speaking of Science – a funky project which collects first-person experiences of science communicators.  I did an interview here http://speakingofscience.juliegould.net/science-communication/speaking-oliver-marsh/ but most of the others are far more interesting and insightful.

I am currently writing two short plays about Einstein and Schrodinger which aim to combine physics and physical theatre, an idea I got while performing at the Edinburgh Fringe with this group https://twitter.com/RecursionCo . I also co-founded the comedy sketch troupe CowsDrinkMilk, which pops up here and there occasionally https://www.facebook.com/#!/cowsdrinkmilk?fref=ts .
